I Was So Much Older Then, I'm Younger Than That Now.

You were the best friend I have ever had, I think.
My Thomas Jay, if you will.
My only regret is that I was too young to appreciate it at the time.
Because now, you didn't get stung by bees, but you moved off to the windy city.
and that might as well be... Switzerland.

But the other Switzerland, not the one where we built our cabins on opposing moutain tops.
The one that is a million miles away.

I hope you can forgive me for my inexperience.
You see, I loved you.
I just didn't know how yet.
I know you see it now, even though at that age; cryptic texts were exchanged like "Hellos" or "How-do-you-dos."
You taught me everything I needed to know about growing younger.
My awkward coming of age years were hidden in photographs, poetry and you.
I will never be able to thank you enough.

But it is worth a try.
